Welcome to our termly webinar series on integral agroecology
Hosted by IERN, LSRI, and Campion Hall, the Down To Earth Dialogues is a dynamic webinar series linking mission, science, and policy. These 90-minute sessions bridge Jesuit tradition and contemporary practice, empowering faith-based institutions to act as ecological “strategists.” By aligning community action with environmental limits, the series translates these focused conversations into collaborative, real-world projects.
The series is organized to foster community and develop practical responses to our socio-ecological crisis, focusing heavily on the principles of integral agroecology. Dialogues bridge history, academic theology, and lived Indigenous wisdom, tackling topics that range from the historical local-action strategies of Jesuit pioneers like Matteo Ricci and Henri de Laulanié to the modern convergence of Catholic social thought and community land restoration. Co-hosted by leaders such as Dr. Austen Ivereigh and Sr. Mūmbi Kīgūtha, the sessions welcome diverse guests including Oxford scholar Dr. Adam Parr, theologians Fr Emmanuel Katongole and Dr. Matthew Whelan, Indigenous advocates like Daniela Alba, María Candelaria Rodríguez Hernández, and Sisters working at the intersection between science and faith like Sr Monica Omondi.
Upcoming events will continue to expand on these vital conversations, featuring deep dives into practical agroecology case studies and strategies for empowering the next generation of youth change-makers.
